The Asset Artist covers the tasks of Modeling, Texturing and Surfacing, in the production of highly accurate, photo real and stylized CG assets to the highest quality possible.
Please note that this position will need to be held during Melbourne's studio hours of Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm AEST. If you reside interstate or overseas, the team requires you to offset your hours to match the studio.
You can:
Create clean and efficient models based on creative briefs and / or reference materialsDemonstrate efficiency in UV layout as well as strong polygonal subdivision skillsFacilitate the creation of high quality photo real texture mapsDemonstrate strong Look Development, R&D and Lighting skills from both an artistic and technical perspectiveMaintain, alter or update models as required by client or supervisor feedbackInterpret abstract ideas into the creation of compelling photo real or stylized assetsMentor and motivate less experienced Asset artists to grow their craft using the latest techniques to grow their craft and the quality of work in the studio as a wholeYou have:
At least five years of experience as an Asset Artist (Model/Texture/Surface) in a VFX Production environmentA Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer graphics or the equivalent combination of education and experienceA strong aesthetic eye for photo realism and keen eye for detailA strong demonstration of digital sculptingA mastery in creating both organic and hard surface models with efficient topologyA mastery of Maya, ZBrush, Mari, and Substance PainterA master of photo real texture painting and physically based look developmentKatana, Mudbox and Substance Designer knowledge is a plusHighly efficient UV layout experience using an UDIM workflow is requiredA technical understanding of colour spaceAn understanding of plate and image based lighting as well as full CG lighting is preferredBasic compositing skills in NukeTD skills (Python, C++) are preferred but not requiredAn understanding of multi-pass rendering and 3D scene layout is preferredStrong communication and organisational skillsThe ability to take direction and implement feedback with a positive attitudeAn approachable, proactive and accommodating attitudeAn innate desire to stay informed of current technologiesStrong time management skills and the ability to balance priorities under the pressure of a deadline-driven productionA team oriented mentality with a 'get it done' attitudeThe ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment
